Last week the small beachside community of Encinitas, CA welcomed thousands of surfers for an event organized by Textured Waves, Changing Tides Foundation, Kind Humans and action sports ambassador Sal Masekela. The Paddle Out for UNITY offered a show of solidarity for the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Masekela used a bullhorn to deliver a stirring speech that denounced racism and affirmed his love of the ocean. The surfers formed the word 'UNITY' with their boards before paddling out together.
