The game will release an EP of the music on July 17th

Game developer Ubisoft announced recently that the next installment of the Assassin's Creed franchise would be available to gamers on November 17th, 2020. Ahead of the game's drop however, the team is releasing an EP of original music for the game's soundtrack entitled Out of the North.

Featuring appearances by composers Jesper Kid and Sarah Schachner, the track steaming headlines features Wardruna vocalist, Einar Selvik. Boasting credentials that include a stint as drummer for Norwegian black metal titans Gorgoroth, Selvik's primarily focus has been Wardruna since 2003.

Selvik's original composition for the game is titled, "Hrafnsmál - The Words of the Raven," and anchors the Out of the North EP. Selvik discussed his participation, “It's a great honor for me to be welcomed into this massive 'Assassin's Creed' entity and long-time pillars of historical storytelling in games," says Einar.

"I have been tasked by Ubisoft to create music that displays and builds upon authentic Norse historical musicality. Through historical instruments, their inherent tonalities, oral poetic traditions and language, I have aimed to make creations that could potentially bring the player closer to the theme and era of the game. It feels great to finally be able share the first piece of music with you all!”
