Netflix is adapting a series based on Splinter Cell

The streaming service has ordered two seasons as it's first project with Ubisoft.

As reported in Variety, Netflix has ordered two, 8-episode seasons of an animated adaptation of the widely-successful Splinter Cell video game franchise.

Derek Kolstad, writer of the John Wick film collection is attached as the new series writer and executive producer. Among his more recent credits also include the Quibi series starring Kevin Hart and John Travolta, Die Hart.

In terms of the narrative of the series, the assumption is that small screen version will follow the game's protagonist in former Navy SEAL, Sam Fisher. The games showcase Fisher as a covert operative for the NSA.

The first game was released in 2002 and has since enjoyed six different installments of the franchise. There is also a film adaptation that has been in the works for nearly a decade now but is, at the moment, considered an inactive project.
