The news is packed with the official trailer for 'Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar'

The highly-anticipated return of the Adult Swim animated cult favorite, Metalocalypse finally has both an arrival date and a brand spanking new trailer. Dethalbum IV serves as first release since 2013's The Doomstar Requiem and includes a collection of new, original Dethklok material. The second release from Dethklok, Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will feature additional songs as well as an original movie score.

Dethalbum IV lands August 22nd while the film's soundtrack is due out August 25th.

To preview the totality of the monumental return of Dethklok and the beloved series in feature length form, the band have delivered their first single in nearly a decade with the drop of "Aortic Desecration". Framing myriad of ways we will all meet our eventual fate, the track is a grizzly, grim reminder of mortality set to a blisteringly heavy composition led again by multi-talented powerhouse, Brendon Small.

Adding to the monumental year for Dethklok, the band will tour for the first time in 11 years opposite Japanese phenomenon, Babymetal on the BabyKlok Tour 2023. The 29-date run across the United States will include appearances at Blue Ridge Rock Fest in Alton, VA., Louder Than Life in Louisville, KY., and a set at Aftershock in Sacarmento, CA this fall.

The tandem of Dethklok and Babymetal begin their run on August 30th in Houston, TX., and close out with a finale in Los Angeles, CA., bringing down the house at the YouTube Theater. Virtuoso guitarist Jason Richardson will serve as the tour’s opening support.

“It’s very surreal having so much new ‘Metalocalypse’ and DETHKLOK this year with the trifecta of the tour, movie and album,” said Small. “I’m so excited to get on the road with the powerful BABYMETAL, and to celebrate all the hard work that team ‘Metalocalypse’ and DETHKLOK put in over the last two years and beyond!”

As for the big screen return of Dethklok, Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar will feature a stacked ensemble cast supporting Brendon Small, Tommy Blacha, Victor Brandt of the Metalocalypse crew. Among the luminaries of film and music confirmed as part of the cast include Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner, King Diamond, Mark Hamill, Kirk Hammet, Jon Hamm, Scott Ian, and Amy Lee just to name a few.

A initial synopsis of the film explains that Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar, “begins after the heroic rescue of Toki Wartooth; DETHKLOK frontman Nathan Explosion finds himself traumatized in a BRUTAL professional and romantic flat-spin, all while he is tasked with fulfilling the prophecy and confronting the ultimate songwriting challenge to save the planet.”
