Anthrax kicks off 40th anniversary festivities leading up to a career-spanning livestream performance

For the next 11-weeks heavyweights including Chuck D, Corey Taylor, Dave Grohl, Dave Mustaine, Gene Simmons, Henry Rollins, John Carpenter,Rob Zombie, Kerry King, and more will help to celebrate 40 years of Anthrax.

Legendary thrash outfit Anthrax will mark a significant milestone in their decorated career with the 40th anniversary of the band set for July 18th – 40 years to the date that the band was formed by Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker in Queens, NY.

Among the accolades amassed by the pioneering collective include Anthrax’s 11 studio albums which have earned multiple Gold and Platinum certifications. The band has racked up six Grammy nominations during their tenure and has toured the world over since 1984, tallying thousands of shows. Among the band’s more historic performances include their headlining appearance at Madison Square Garden and performing at Yankee Stadium with The Big 4 alongside contemporaries in Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer.

Starting May 3rd and continuing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, bookended on the band’s anniversary of July 18th, Anthrax will share testimonials from former band members, colleagues, musicians and music industry veterans sharing their personal connection to Anthrax and detailing the longevity and legacy of East Coast thrash architects.

Among the names contributing their personal messages to the band include, Chuck D, Corey Taylor, Dave Grohl, Dave Mustaine, Gary Holt, Gene Simmons, Henry Rollins, John Carpenter, Kerry King, Mike Patton, Nergal, Norman Reedus, Michael Poulsen, Rob Zombie, Robert Trujillo, Roger Miret, Darryl McDaniels of Run DMC, Slash, Tom Morello and more.  Former Anthrax band members Dan Lilker, Dan Spitz, John Bush, Neil Turbin, and Rob Caggiano will also offer their messages of support.
