The towering track underscores the Ohio outfit’s assertive rock heavy command and serves as an auspicious glimpse of the band’s forthcoming LP.
Ohio-based powerhouse Beartooth have made it official and confirmed June 25th as the arrival date of their fourth record, Below.
Coupled with the news of the band’s forthcoming studio album comes a second single in the anthemic, arena-ready banger, “The Past Is Dead”. The accompanying visual features the band in it’s natural state, loud AF and surrounded by fire as crew unleash an all out assault led by a dominate showing from frontman Caleb Shomo. The track follows the initial offering from the record with the blistering introduction of “Devastation“.
“‘The Past Is Dead’ was one of the first songs written for the album,” Shomo explains. “Various versions have been in the bank for about two years now and it really set the tone for the whole album writing process. The video is meant to depict the beginning of the journey to the deepest and darkest parts of my mind, which was the fuel used to make Below.”
Functioning as the harbinger of the band’s fourth and arguably most potent iteration, the meld of instrumental horsepower and vocal command is the result of Shomo’s immersive creative dive – a resulting cathartic purge from the last year of quarantine.
“Below is by far my favorite album I’ve made to date,” says frontman Caleb Shomo. “It covers the dark side of dealing with mental strain during the last year. I gave it all I had — musically and lyrically. Is it too dark? Possibly, but it was as honest as I could be about how I felt. I hope everyone is ready to strap in for a wild ride of head banging and rocking.”
‘Below’ arrives via Red Bull Records on June 25th. Watch the latest visual for the second single, “The Past Is Dead” below.
