In the wake of his split with Philly core blurring outfit Varials over a messy Twitter exchange that asserted the band was being hypocritical in using racially charged language, frontman Travis Tabron is now spearheading a new project in Erase Them.
The band discuss the genesis of the band and the regional identity that is very much at the core of the collective. "Erase Them is the culmination of modern Metalcore. A some-what of a Cleveland super group. Chris sings in Pawn, Eric and George play in Cleveland hardcore band Highway Sniper, and vocalist Travis Tabron (ex-varials) takes the lead on Vocals. Today, the band releases their debut single, a showcase of what's to come from these four talented young legends."
Given the penchant for confrontational art, Erase Them quickly establish a precedent with their debut in "Blue Herd". Addressing the hot button topic of police brutality and the abuse of power, the band make no apologies for speaking their mind on a track that pure beatdown both in style and substance.
The band explain the specifics of the powerful introduction. "Blue Herd as a song is an honest critique of the oath taken and the actions actually applied. For too long have we allowed the fraternity of police to abuse the black and non-white population. For too long have we not forsaken the flower for the fruit that it bears. There are no good apples from a rotten tree."
Charging quickly out of the gate, Erase Them intend to kick a hole in the space of modern heavy music. Comprised of a talented roster of individuals, the band is already off to a promising start with tracks like this. Erase Them are aiming to release their debut full length later this Fall via Evil Doer Records.
