Last year, Slipknot percussionist and creative mastermind clown ventured into the realm of NFTs with the launch a special edition, one-of-one drop of his Electric Theater NFT. The art featured a depiction We Are Not Your Kind-era clown with insects flying out of his mouth.
The minted exclusive was auctioned off, along with original audio paired with the art and was retired from any future use, further underscoring the collector's value of the piece.
The success of the initial endeavor has now ushered in the next iteration of clown's venture into the space with the launch of his own series of NFTs dubbed, My Legacy. In a video shared to his social media that features haunting footage of the clown in various chapters of Slipknot's tenure, the multi-hyphenate introduces the project and explains his motivation.
"I'm finally putting up a little NFT collection called, 'My Legacy'. It's time to give what I can away to the people that matter the most, our culture. I can't wait for you to check out all this art. Be safe, see you soon."
While the messaging included no further details in true cryptic Slipknot style, more details are expected soon.
Slipknot is currently in the thick of the first leg of the Knotfest Roadshow trek along with In This Moment and Wage War. The second leg of the run is slated to begin May 18th with support from the legendary Cypress Hill and genre-smashing duo H099O9. See the complete list of dates and cities - HERE
