‘Barbarian’ September 9th (Theaters)
Traveling to Detroit for a job interview, a young woman (Georgina Campbell) books a rental home. But when she arrives late at night, she discovers that the house is double booked and a strange man (Bill Skarsgård) is already staying there. Against her better judgement, she decides to spend the evening, but soon discovers that there's a lot more to fear than just an unexpected house guest. Early buzz for this horror flick is calling it one messed up, depraved and insane thrill ride on par with some of the wilder ones to come out lately. Barbarian is surely not one to be missed.
‘Clerks III’ September 13th (Theaters)
Dante (Brian O’Halloran), Elias (Trevor Fehrman), and Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) are enlisted by Randal (Jeff Anderson) after a heart attack to make a movie about the convenience store that started it all. The third film in Kevin Smith’s Quick Stop trilogy once again comes well over a decade after the previous entry. The bittersweet film will act as the ending to generation-defining story and look towards the future.
‘The Retaliators’ September 14th (Theaters)
The Retaliators is the rock / horror event of the season. The film is about an upstanding pastor (Michael Lombardi) who uncovers a dark and twisted underworld as he searches for answers surrounding his daughter's brutal murder. A high-octane original soundtrack and cameos from some of the biggest names in rock music set the tone as this horror-thriller reveals a game of revenge played using a new set of rules. Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach also stars in the film as well as members of Five Finger Death Punch, Escape the Fate, The HU, Ice Nine Kills, Tommy Lee and many others.
‘The Woman King’ September 16th (Theaters)
The Woman King is the remarkable story of the Agojie, the all-female unit of warriors who protected the African Kingdom of Dahomey in the 1800s with skills and a fierceness unlike anything the world has ever seen. Inspired by true events, the film follows the emotionally epic journey of General Nanisca (Viola Davis) as she trains the next generation of recruits and readies them for battle against an enemy determined to destroy their way of life. Some things are worth fighting for.
‘Pearl’ September 16th (Theaters)
Filmmaker Ti West returns with another chapter from the twisted world of X, in this astonishing follow-up to the year’s most acclaimed horror film. Trapped on her family’s isolated farm, Pearl (Mia Goth) must tend to her ailing father under the bitter and overbearing watch of her devout mother. ‘Moonage Daydream’ September 16th (Theaters)
From Oscar-nominated filmmaker Brett Morgen, director of Cobain: Montage of Heck, and featuring never-before-seen concert footage, Moonage Daydream is an immersive cinematic experience; an audio-visual space odyssey that not only illuminates the enigmatic legacy of David Bowie but also serves as a guide to living a fulfilling and meaningful life in the 21st Century. It is a genre-defying cinematic experience based on one of the most iconic and global rock stars of all time, destined to be one of the defining cultural moments of the year. The film has the full support of Bowie’s estate and features many of his greatest tracks, as well as previously unseen concert footage.
‘Don’t Worry Darling’ September 23rd (Theaters)
From director Olivia Wilde comes a new and original sci-fi thriller. Alice (Florence Pugh) and Jack are lucky to be living in the idealized community of Victory, the experimental company town housing the men who work for the top-secret Victory Project and their families. The 1950's societal optimism espoused by their CEO, Frank (Chris Pine) - equal parts corporate visionary and motivational life coach - anchors every aspect of daily life in the tight-knit desert utopia. Life is perfect, with every resident's needs met by the company. All they ask in return is discretion and unquestioning commitment to the Victory cause. But when cracks in her idyllic life begin to appear, exposing flashes of something much more sinister lurking beneath the attractive façade, Alice can't help questioning exactly what they're doing in Victory, and why. Just how much is Alice willing to lose to expose what's really going on in this paradise?
‘The Munsters’ September 27th (Netflix)
Rob Zombie is back with a new passion project, giving the classic and beloved Munsters sitcom a feature film adaptation for the modern day. Lily (Sheri Moon Zombie) is a typical 150-year-old lovelorn vampire who's looking for the man of her nightmares - until she lays her eyes on Herman (Jeff Daniel Phillips), a 7-foot-tall green experiment with a heart of gold. It's love at first shock as these two ghouls fall fangs over feet for each other in a Transylvanian romance. Unfortunately, it's not all smooth sailing in the cemetery as Lily's father (Daniel Roebuck) has other plans for his beloved daughter's future, and they don't involve her new bumbling beau. Surprisingly, this will be Zombie’s first film to be rated PG.
‘DIO: Dreamers Never Die’ September 28th (Theaters)
Ronnie James Dio's story transcends the standard rock documentary. Beautifully highlighting both his powerful voice and his gentle heart, this documentary delves deep into the singer’s incredible rise from ’50s doo-wop crooner to his early rock days in Elf and Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, to replacing Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath, and finally cementing his rockstar status with his own band, DIO. The first documentary to be authorized by the artist’s estate, the film incorporates never-before-seen footage and personal photos from Dio’s archives as well as offering intimate scenes with his closest peers, family, and friends, among them Wendy Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Glenn Hughes, Vinny Appice, Lita Ford, Rob Halford, Sebastian Bach, Eddie Trunk and Jack Black, as they bring viewers inside the life of one of the most beloved figures in rock.
‘Smile’ September 30th (Theaters)
The winner for what is probably the creepiest movie trailer of the year goes to Smile, a new horror flick from writer and director Parker Finn. After witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) starts experiencing frightening occurrences that she can’t explain. As an overwhelming terror begins taking over her life, Rose must confront her troubling past in order to survive and escape her horrifying new reality. Once you see it, it’s too late.
