Marking it's triumphant return to Los Angeles and the famed Hollywood Palladium after a three year pause, Celtic punk pioneers Flogging Molly have announced their annual St. Patrick's Day celebration and concert powered by Bushmill's Irish Whiskey.
The 2021 edition saw the band pivot due to the pandemic with a successful livestreamed edition of the yearly tradition. Taking to the online platform, Flogging Molly performed their brand of jubilant folk punk live from Ireland before a global audience deadset on keeping tradition, despite the disconnect brought on by Covid-19.
For the 2022 congregation, Flogging Molly will headline a full day of festivities with a powerful live performance which will include a simultaneous livestream broadcast for fans not able to physically be in attendance. The free festival (RSVP via Floggingmolly.com) and the evening performance will both be broadcast via Floggingmolly.veeps.com. Online attendees will have a selection of exclusive merch items available to them.
The St. Patrick's Day event will include a free outdoor festival (RSVP via Floggingmolly.com) featuring Bushmills activations throughout, including photo opportunities and complimentary swag. Additional programming includes Irish Dancing from “Power Academy of Irish Dance”, games, food trucks, and outdoor stage performances from L.A. punks The Briggs and Hoist The Colors along with a Matt & Dennis acoustic, and Nathen DJ set.
For ticketholders, the Palladium stage will come alive with sets from Russkaja and Vandoliers before the night's marquee draw. The Flogging Molly performance be broadcast via Floggingmolly.veeps.com. Online attendees will have access to a selection of exclusive merch items as an added bonus.
Coinciding with the news of the festival, Flogging Molly have also revealed the pending release of the band's first song in five years.“These Times Have Got Me Drinking,” is set to arrive on March 10th, just one week prior to the band's spectacular return to the Palladium stage. “It’s a perfect song for right now, I think it summarizes everything our band is about – which is celebration with our loved ones in trying times. It’s about joy amidst, and in spite of, stuff trying to grind us down,” said Flogging Molly frontman Dave King. “Being able to announce a return to the Hollywood Palladium for St. Patrick’s Day is a happy thing indeed. We can’t wait to be back in Los Angeles where it all began.”
The band's St. Patrick's Day victory lap comes about mid-way in a two week North American stretch of tour dates that is set to begin March 8th in Knoxville, TN and conclude in Central California at Ventura Music Hall on March 26th. Flogging Molly is currently adding the final touches to the follow-up to their lauded 2017 Rise Records release, Life Is Good.
