The iconic Playstation franchise of violence and mayhem behind the wheel in 'Twisted Metal' is the latest video game to make the transition to the small screen. As reported by Variety, Playstation Productions and Sony Pictures Television have begun work on a live-action comedy based on the 1995 classic.
Among the talent already attached to the project include the writers behind 'Deadpool' and 'Zombieland' in Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The concept for the series is based on their vision of a pair of partnered outlaws running and gunning their way across a Mad Max-esue wasteland - armed and incredibly dangerous.
'Cobra Kai''s Michael Jonathan Smith will write the series and serve as executive producer along with Will Arnet.
“’Twisted Metal’ is one of the most beloved franchises from PlayStation,” said head of PlayStation Productions, Asad Qizilbash. “We are thrilled to have such a great team working on bringing this iconic game to life for the fans.”
The live action transition of the franchise will most certainly include the game's most enduring figure in the pop-culture fixture that is Sweet Tooth - the game;'s magical clown that helms a reign of terror from his tricked out ice cream truck.
