Jerry Only of The Original Misfits has partnered with Punk Rock & Paintbrushes to give the diehards fiends a chance to own a piece of punk history.
The two entities recently unearthed especially rare photos that captured a then budding punk rock powerhouse in Misfits during their January 21st, 1983 performance at The Goleta Valley Community Center. The timeless photos, snapped by revered punk documentarian Kevin Salk, feature Misfits in the infancy of what would become an iconic career.
To bring things full circle, the photos were signed by Original Misfits cohort Jerry Only during he band's sold out headlining appearance at the highly-anticipated hard rock/heavy metal pilgrimage of Northern California's Aftershock Festival.
To better frame just how rare these photos are, the elusive images have been tucked away in the Misfits' archives for over 35 years. The recently surfaced images offered a unique chance for the band to launch a charitable campaign - while giving fans the opportunity to own a part of Misfits history.
Limited to just six prints and signed Jerry Only himself, the photos were printed with archival pigment on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Pearl - a pure 100% cotton fine art paper with a slight gloss finish. Each print is signed and numbered in the margins by the artist. The collection was published and printed by FATHOM in Los Angeles and released in exclusive worldwide limited edition.
All proceeds from the sale of the Misfits’ prints will benefit the ongoing work of Rock Against Racism. The non-profit organization spearheads grassroots efforts along with artists, musicians, and industry professionals to use music and art as a means of building cultural bridges and combating systematic racism on a ground level. The collective galvanized back in the United Kingdom in 1976 and since then has become an essential voice of mobilization and action for those intent on inciting change.
