Each week seems to reiterate just how robust the world of heavy music is. The variety, the confrontation, the creativity all suggest that the old adage of turbulent times result in great art is an incredibly accurate assessment.

ZAO - "Ship Of Theseus" (Observed/Obeserver Recordings)
There just aren't many bands that can run the span of many years and 12 albums and still showcase the ability to one-up themselves like Zao does. The second showing from eagerly-anticipated The Crimson Corridor in "Ship of Theseus" is yet another crushing effort that steers clear of cliched heavy and resonates as something truly authentic. Equally fresh yet reminiscent of all that fans have grown to champion Zao for, the band manages to make all that is old sound brand new again.
ZillaKami - "Chains"
The adrenaline that comes standard with anything Zilla is well-established but the latest from the City Morgue fire starter ratchets the hype to all new levels. Following his recent guest feature alongside Scarlxrd on Trippie Redd's "Dead Desert," Zilla's ability to bridge the bravado of hip hop with the volatility of rock makes for a car bomb of a track that both bumps and pits.
Gemini Syndrome - "Die With Me" (Another Century)
Following the emphatic release of “IDK” and “Reintegration,” progressive metal powerhouse Gemini Syndrome continue their assertive reintroduction with"Die With Me". The slow trickle of singles offers an insight to the band's first cohesive collection of material since 2016's Memento Mori. The futuristic, potently progressive signature of the band is on full display on the third single, complete with diving guitars, huge hooks and a rich backbeat thats is as well crafted as it ids produced.
Caliban - "intoleranz" (Century Media Records)
Returning to familiar terrain for their reintroduction, German metalcore vets Caliban tracked a 2021 version of "Intolerance" from their 1999 debut, A Small Boy In A Grey Heaven. Embracing their home language, the band's rebranded, refocused resurfacing showcases an exciting embrace of the band's cultural roots. Zeitgeister will be released on May 14th and marks a promising return to form.
Genghis Tron - "Pyrocene" (Relapse Records)
The rollout for Genghis Tron's brilliant return in 'Dream Weapon' delivers a strong showing with a new drummer and vocalist. Evolving into a collective that indulges more the synth, psych spectrum of heavy, Genghis Tron 2.0 still manages to push an envelope creatively and thrive on the outskirts of the category.
Wristmeetrazor featuring Issac Hale of Knocked Loose - "Last Tango In Paris" (Prosthetic Records)
Marking the production debut of Issac Hale of Knocked Loose, the metalcore combination of goth esthetic and metallic heft in Wristmeetrazor make a hell of an introduction with the first single from their June 11th, Replica of a Strange Love. "Last tango In Paris" asserts controlled chaos fueled by crunching guitars and guttural vocals.
Bone Cutter - "My Dead Wife Is A Cat (Meow)" (Twelve Gauge Records)
Following the cripplingly heavy assault of the previous "Sea of Broken Needs" the latest from Heavy Heavy Low Low members Robbie Smith, Andrew Fritter, and Chris Fritter on drums, flexes the band's versatility with post-hardcore style points. Equally heavy, equally relentless, the second showing from their self-titled Twelve Gauge Records EP offers plenty of reason to be excited about April 23rd.
Northlane - "Clockwork" (Believe Music)
After just having released a remix EP, Aussie progressive Northlane have began a new chapter in their career with their latest, "Clockwork". The cinematic effort has also been selected as the official soundtrack for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege Oceanic Nationals Esports League. The first effort back from a turbulent year, frontman Marcus Bridge shines bright on a promising showing from one of the genre's most auspicious outfits.
