More than two years after Disney's Marvel Entertainment announced it's partnership with Japanese video game publisher Square Enix, Marvel's Avengers, has finally hit store shelves.
Boasting an expansive story mode with plenty of gaming time, there is also a multi-player mode that allows gamers to connect online and play together. The plan for Marvel's Avengers is to regularly add content and updates, giving the title added longevity rather than shifting focus to a new title in the same franchise.
Kamala Khan, better know as Ms. Marvel functions as the game's protagonist in that her character is at the core of the assembly of the Avengers. Khan's fandom represented in the storyline seems to mirror the fandom of the audience playing the game, which makes the entry resonate that much more with players.
All of the games' micro transactions are cosmetic. Marvel's Avengers won't require any MTX to unlock content that is integral to the gameplay or advancement as it pertains to missions, campaigns.
In terms of the appetite for the game, it is shocking that until now, there has been no official Avengers entry. The clamor for the game resulted in the beta version becoming the most downloaded beta Playstation has ever had - generating 6 million sign-ups and more than 27 million hours of collective game play.
And that is for the beta version.
Post launch, Hawkeye will be the first DLC available for the Marvel's Avengers game. He will have his own missions and can be utilized in story mode or multi-player. He will join the initial playable characters, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Ms. Marvel.
In addition to Hawkeye, Black Panther will eventually join the game as well as Spider Man, however, only for the Playstation version as the company has exclusivity rights.
Marvel's Avengers is available now and retails for $60.
