New Music Throwdown: Playlist Adds 3.19.21

- By Chris Hudson

A heavy dose of big hitters, a surprise single from Beartooth, ERRA's album finally hits and Death Blooms leads the charge of the Pulse of the Maggots in this week's playlist adds.

An explosive week kicks off with a new album from ERRA, an EP drop from Serj Tankian and releases from Beartooth, While She Sleeps (feat a special guest), Pop Evil, Northlane, Attila, ZillaKami and a live version of Lamb of God's "Memento Mori" (which has been in the Tribe Leaders Top 50 Playlist since its release) all freshen up this week's playlist adds.

In what seems like the most additions ever in one week, 8 new tracks join the playlist spearheaded by the surprise release from Beartooth. "Devastation" marks the bands first original release since 2018's 'Disease'. No official word if there's more on the horizon, but goddamn do we hope as "Devastation" packs a wallop.

Serj Tankian's 'Elasticity' EP hit today on the strength of the title track released earlier this year and today's release of "Electric Yerevan". As always Tankian uses his unworldly talent to shine a light on the political failures holding the world hostage. This will be the third track on the playlist fronted by Tankian as the double feature released Nov of last year from System of a Down continues to hold power in the playlist.

Speaking of multiple tracks on the playlist, ERRA has been scorching hot this album cycle that finally hits its conclusion today as they drop their self titled album. All five tracks released as early singles have filled the playlist including "Snowblood", "House of Glass", "Divisionary", "Scorpion Hymn" and last week's "Shadow Autonomous". Both Shadow and Scorpion continue their run while "Gungrave" - today's release - marks an album celebration with its addition.

Lamb of God continue blasting towards Friday's release of their deluxe edition of last year's self-titled album. The deluxe edition (which a signed version plus a merch pack can be won by entering and voting in the Lamb of God Bracket) features two additional bonus tracks (one which is already on the playlist in "Ghost Shaped People") and a video/audio LIVE version of the album in full from their Sept 2020 livestream performance.

Today they drop the live version of the smash hit "Memento Mori". Check it out here and stream their KNOTFEST Exclusive curated playlist 'Live Metal Essentials' - a collection of essential live aggression from some of the genre's most important bands.

While She Sleeps brings out the special guest in Biffy Clyro's Simon Neil for their latest "Nervous". The track is the third pre-release for the band following "Sleeps Society" and "You Are All You Need" leading up to April 16th and the drop of 'SLEEPS SOCIETY'. All three tracks scattered the playlist.

Previously Mat Welsh sat down with Beez revealing that be believes 'SLEEPS SOCIETY'
to be that one “monster” record.

Australia continues its all out global attack with its seemingly never-ending metal talent. This week Northlane unleashes the heavy electonic "Clockwork" which will serve as the official theme song for 'Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege' at the Oceanic Nationals eSports League on March 21st.

"Set Me Free", the latest from active-rock hitters Pop Evil, sees the band hammering away towards May 21st's release day of 'Versatile'. While metalcore stars, Attila, drop the rangy fierce anthem "Clarity". The track follows last year's "Cancelled", as both are rumored to be on the band's upcoming album which was teased summer of last year.

ZillaKami (City Morgue) unloads his signature aggressive style over pounding beats and ripping guitars on his latest, "CHAINS" as he continues tearing down genre walls.

After A Day to Remember overtook #1 last week with the brutal "Last Chance to Dance (Bad Friend)" off their latest 'You're Welcome', Bring Me the Horizon takes back reign with the non-stopping "Parasite Eve". ADTR slides to #3, behind Architects, with System of a Down, Sabaton, Chevelle, Evanescence and last week's latest from Rob Zombie following.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
