While the live action translation of the classic video game was first announced in September of last year, more details have surfaced regarding the half-hour action comedy series based on 'Twisted Metal'.

Taking on the role as the crafty, yet ruthless outsider John Doe, Anthony Mackie, most recently of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will take the lead as the milkman pitted in a deadly game of road rage.

The joint production between Sony Pictures TV, PlayStation Productions and Universal Television will also arrive on NBC's streaming platform Peacock. Cobra Kai scribe Michael Jonathan Smith will pen the show as well as serve as showrunner and executive producer.

The series takes its creative cues from the iconic Playstation game. The plot of the series will follow the that of the game - depicting Milkman as a clever, callous driver that must brave a post apocalyptic wasteland in to deliver an unknown package for a shot at a better life.

Twisted Metal serves as the latest in the project derived Playstation IPs. HBO is set to premiere their live action adaptation of the Playstation game The Last of Us sometime in 2023, with series currently in production.

As for the projected arrival date of Twisted Metal, the details remain scant but everyone invovled in the project seems optimistic that the finished product will do the game justice given the personnel in place. The head of Playstation Productions Asad Qizilbash said, “Twisted Metal is one of PlayStation’s most beloved franchises. We are thrilled to have such an amazing creative team and partners working together who have such passion for this iconic property. We can’t wait for fans to see what we have planned for them.”
