Robb Flynn of Machine Head shares online death threats

- By Ramon Gonzales

The veteran frontman offers fans a glimpse into the digital hostility that he deals with and reveals that he gets death threats "at least twice a week".

Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn has always a prominent voice within the metal community.

This last year, the veteran continued to address social injustices with the release of songs like "Bulletproof" and "Stop the Bleeding" the later of which brought into focus the murder of Ahmaud Arbery.

Flynn also took to the streets in solidarity with the national protests that happened across the country as the The Black Lives Matter Movement began to galvanize in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and many more.

Responding to the riots and violence that resulted in a historic breach of the US Capitol Building last week, Flynn took his social media platform to address the events with an entry titled, Vomitous Creatures and Cretins.

The metal ambassador would later go onto share the kind of hostility that has become a fixture in his social media feed. Flynn articulated a lengthy statement that remained steadfast in his inability to compromise his beliefs, despite getting death threats "at least twice a week."

While Flynn remains adamant in his stance, he encouraged people to speak their mind, albeit respectfully. For those that can't or won't, Flynn suggested to hit 'unfollow'. Where the metal legend did draw the line involved any threats towards his family. Eniding his statement emphatically, Flynn reminded everyone reading that any attempt to threaten his family would not go without a serous response.

Good times in my DM‘s today. Just a little taste. Listen to me… I have literally dealt with this for 30 years. Before it was in mail and hand written letters, then it was emails and message boards, now it’s DM’s and the comment section.

Just so we’re all crystal clear... I am not going anywhere.

I will not shut up.

If you don’t like the things that I have to say on my personal Instagram account, Unfollow. I’m not here to please you, or give you some watered down version of what you think somebody in metal band should be.

Don’t agree with my politics? Go ahead and Unfollow. Zero Fucks given. No one is forcing you to be here. You are free to speak your opinions here, as long as you are respectful and not spamming, and I keep a pretty long leash on what is “respectful”

“Shut up and stick to music”? I’ll do just that… By singing songs like a “nation on fire”, “Davidian”, “clenching the Fists of Dissent”, “ in comes the flood“ and “halo”.

And for those of you who did write this to me, consider this a warning. I purposefully left your names off of this post. This is the last time I will do that. Let there be no mistake, I will not hesitate to Dox you the fuck out.

I’ve been a public figure for most of my adult life, I’m used to people threatening me, I had over 1000 death threats after the “racism in metal“ video. I still get death threats at least twice a week. I accept it for what it is.

But the second people start threatening my wife and my kids, you’ve crossed the line, a line I will not ever accept.

Don’t believe me? FUCKING BRING IT!!

The last time Cigarettes After Sex played a headline show in the UK was in a pre-Covid world, and the extensive queue line full of eager fans outside of Manchester’s O2 Apollo on the first night of the band’s return tour is hard proof of just how much they’ve been missed on these shores.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
