The January 2022 edition of The Gauntlet crowned Venom Prison's 'Nemesis' the best song of January, the day after the release of the death metal quintet's hotly-anticipated thrird studio album

Pooling the very best of all the heavy music released throughout the month, The Gauntlet gives fans the opportunity to cast their vote for the music videos and bands they like most – pitting music videos against one another in a unique head-to-head battle for supremacy and bragging rights.

Januarys are usually a quiet month for music, but not this time around, with tracks from giants of our world KoRn, Meshuggah and Muse facing off against the new breed of bands that deserve the spotlight shone on them, such as Heriot, Loathe and Zeal & Ardor.

It was Venom Prison who came out on top though, as well as earning a massive nine knockouts, with the last single released from their new album Erebos, which shows the band really spread their wings and threaten to take over our scene - and maybe even break out of it.
