The very first look at the latest video game adaptation film from director Paul W. S. Anderson has been revealed.
The teaser trailer for Monster Hunter has surfaced along with news that the film's postponed release slated for April 2021 has now tentatively been moved up to December 2020.
The 15-second first look at the film showcases Milla Jovovich's character Lt. Artemis mowing down gigantic monsters with equally gigantic artillery. Te supporting cast is a strong collection of names including TI Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta, Tony Jaa, and Ron Perlman.
The official synopsis reads,
“When an unexpected sandstorm transports Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her unit to a new world, the soldiers are shocked to discover that this hostile and unknown environment is home to enormous and terrifying monsters immune to their firepower. In their desperate battle for survival, the unit encounters the mysterious Hunter (Tony Jaa), whose unique skills allow him to stay one step ahead of the powerful creatures. As Artemis and Hunter slowly build trust, she discovers that he is part of a team led by the Admiral (Ron Perlman). Facing a danger so great it could threaten to destroy their world, the brave warriors combine their unique abilities to band together for the ultimate showdown.”
The film is an adaptation of the sci-fi shooter from Capcom of the same name. Since it's 2004 release, the video game has gone on to be Capcom's second best selling entry, just under Resident Evil.
Hoping to capture the same on-screen success with the combination of Anderson and Jovovich, Monster Hunter looks to be a great extension of the formula.
