A24 is back for another year of original unsettling horror, and they're kicking things off in March with the aptly titled X from writer and director Ti West. West is best known for his contributions to the horror genre with work in the V/H/S and The ABCs of Death series as well as making plenty of his originals like The Innkeepers and The House of the Devil.
X takes place at a secluded farmhouse out in rural Texas, where a group of young filmmakers arrive to attempt to shoot an adult film. The reclusive elderly couple that acts as their hosts take a special interest in their guests and their work, but when the true nature of the film shoot is discovered, things turn catastrophically violent and the cast and crew are thrown into a fight for their lives.
Brittany Snow (Prom Night) will star alongside Mia Goth (Suspiria), Kid Cudi (Creepshow), Martin Henderson (The Ring), Owen Campbell (Super Dark Times), Stephen Ure (Deathgasm), and Scream‘s Jenna Ortega in the film, which draws obvious comparisons to films like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre but also contains so much more - as is par for the course for an arthouse studio like A24.
The film is sure to supply plenty of intense frights, serious gore, and of course, some more-than-suggestive sexual content. Probably not the choice for family movie night, but then who are we to judge?
'X' comes out only in theaters on March 18th.
