The streaming series based on the 2017 feature length film American Satan received it's first trailer. The first look at Ash Avildsen's Paradise City, has the Sumerian Records founder again flexing his directorial chops in what looks to be a very compelling watch.
Paradise City again features Black Veil Brides' ringleader Andy Biersack starring along with Asking Alexandria's Ben Bruce. Biersack plays the frontman of the fictional rock band The Relentless. Biersack's character finds himself connected with an adoring fan and their shared anguish of broken homes prompted by the bug business of music.
As the series director, the plot line holds very personal weight for Avildsen. He shared the following in a director's note.
“For kids that grow up with one parent, you can go on one of two paths: you can blame the world, your parents, blame God, blame lack of God, or it can light a fire under you that you’re gonna make it no matter what. 'Paradise City' is the show made to inspire these millions of teenagers and young adults. It reminds us that there is no light without darkness, that sorrow and heartbreak can be the greatest drivers of art. It reminds us that there is always hope, that you are never alone and that music is always there if you let it be."
Avildsen goes onto share, “Almost everything in Paradise City is inspired by real events I have experienced growing up in an unorthodox single mom household as a kid estranged from his famous father and then my adult life becoming self-made in the ruthless music industry. Supernatural elements that have guided and misguided my life ever since moving to Los Angeles are also prevalent throughout the tale.”
The series is set to begin streaming in March 2021 and boasts a stellar cast of from the world of music as well as film and television. Among those include in the ensemble cast are Sid Wilson of Slipknot, Randy Blythe from Lamb of God, Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens, Mark Boone Junior know for his role in Sons of Anarchy, Drea de Matteo of The Sopranos, Ryan Hurst, Bella Thorne, Fairuza Balk, Matt Pinfield, metal ambassador Jose Mangin, Nita Strauss, Javier Reyes of Animals As Leaders, Hopsin, and many more will appear onscreen.
