Andrew W. Boss finds strength in song with his latest 'Forever'

- By Ramon Gonzales

Using the bumps and bruises of life as source material, the rap/rock outfit from SLC has emerged from the school of hard knocks with a sound that is earning fans one stage at a time.

Since 2016, the SLC-based nu-metalesque outfit of Andrew W. Boss has cultivated a following that dig on the band's nostalgic rap/rock MO.

Making their debut in 2017 with the LP Invincible, bolstered by a pair of releases in 2019 in Left Alone and The Arrival, the band has earned a reputation as persistent road dogs, converting fans across the country one stage at a time.

Amassing a groundswell of interest with The Arrival, the LP was anchored by guest appeanrces from Cory Michalski and Jeremy Tabor (CO-OP), Rob Rivera (Nonpoint), Pablo Viveros (Chelsea Grin), 5280 Mystic, G-Mo Skee and Jamie Madrox (Twiztid). Working under the production and engineering tutelage of Jim Fogarty (All That Remains, Killswitch Engage) the Boss Crew channeled high energy and reaffirming optimism in a collection of tracks that best captured the vigor of the band's live show.

With plans to trek alongside Saliva, Powerman 5000, Adema and Flaw on the Nu Metal Revival tour in 2020, the pandemic resulted in postponements but did little to slow down the band's momentum. Boss would remain productive dropping the standalone single "Fear Me" and a new visual for the timely track "Patience".

Quickly getting to work in 2021, the band has debuted their latest video for the track, "Forever". Boss offered the following insight regarding their most recent anthem, “‘Forever’ is a song about my ability to use the darkness and light of my life to succeed. The ability to recognize that the bad things that I’ve lived through have helped me to become the man I am today, and to embrace those lessons, not to suppress them. It also is about me using my music to overcome the darkness - not to rid myself of it but to acknowledge it and overcome it.”

Utilizing the bumps and bruises of life as source material, Boss conveys a genuine sense of conviction in his craft that when combined with the vigor of his band's live show - has most certainly paid dividends in earning the support of his fans.
