Anthrax unveil two signature rye whiskeys in 'Evil Twin I' & 'Evil Twin II'

Following the success of 'The Healer' this summer, Anthrax returned to Hillrock Estate Distillery to capture lighting in a bottle once again.

Anthrax is again venturing into the world of spirits to launch two signature rye whiskeys following a track record of successful releases thus far.

Returning to Hillrock Estate Distillery, responsible for the band's previous summer 2020 release in, 'The Healer,' Anthrax is unveiling 'Evil Twin I' and 'Evil Twin II' ahead of the holiday season.

The limited edition, award-winning, high-end Double Cask Ryes, will be especially rare considering only one barrel of each will be produced. This means for 'Evil Twin I,' the yield will only be 238 individually numbered bottles. 'Evil Twin II' has yet to be "dumped" so the exact numbers there are yet to be determined.

'Evil Twin I' is now available and if ordered by October 23rd, delivery will ensure the bottle will be arriving in time for the trick or treating festivities of Halloween.

Boasting some have R & D, guitarist Scott Ian trekked to the distillery to sample eight different whiskeys and observe the distilling and bottling process. Of the eight, Ian picked his favorite two.

"All eight were different from each other as every barrel expresses itself differently," Scott explained, "and I chose my two favorites. The barrel that became Evil Twin I showed off espresso, caramel, vanilla and spice - the barrel that became Evil Twin II had maple, cinnamon, clove and black pepper notes that all played together really well - both barrels were delicious so we decided to do both!

I'd put these ryes up against any rye on the market. The care and attention that went in to both of them, every step of the way, from field to glass, from the harvesting of the estate-grown rye to the distillation, to the beautiful bottles and the labels, each was made with the highest levels of perfection."

Ian also discussed what prompted the band to return to the well so to speak. "We decided to release another whiskey because it seemed like people were very happy with, 'The Healer.' Where 'The Healer' bourbon was extremely approachable and smooth, 'the 'Evil Twins' are spicier, sweeter, richer, stronger, and bolder. So, when we say 'Evil Twin,' we mean it in a great way."

In terms of the band's history with limited edition spirits, 'The Healer' as well as their 2014 "Indians," and 2015 "The Devil You Know," all sold out within two days of launch.
