Slipknot's Clown was recently featured in beer, wine, and spirits publication Chilled Magazine. The entry covered a myriad of talking points, all of which revolve around the creative pace of Shawn Crahan.
Clown touched on a few different talking points that are particularly interesting for Slipknot fans. He hinted at some unreleased material dating back some 10 years ago. Here is an excerpt from the article.
“I’m working on a sort of side project concept, Look Outside Your Window, that is neither a band or album name, but more of a mindset. It’s some previously unreleased material we recorded about 10 years ago, around the time of our fourth album release. Myself and three other members (Sid Wilson, Corey Taylor, Jim Taylor) spent time in a house together, and it was a really strange experience, where we envisioned things breaching our privacy and looking in at us from outside (hence the title),” he recalls. “All I can say is that it’s blooming right now. I want to say its close, but I can’t say too much.”
Crahan also mentioned an ongoing documentary project chronicling Slipknot's 2019 Iowa State Fair performance that broke attendance records that were in place since 1972.
The crux of the feature however focuses on Clown's love for whiskey. In choosing a partner, Crahan connected with Cedar Ridge Distillery. When the location opened in 2005, Cedar Ridge was first licensed distillery in the state of Iowa since the Prohibition. Considering Crahan's deeply-rooted connection to Des Moines, the partnership made complete sense.
