The long form feature takes a deep dive into the musical pedigree of the veteran songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and heavy music game changer.

Gibson TV, the digital content branch of Gibson Guitars, has launched the most recent installment in their ongoing, award-winning long form interview series with another episode of ICONS. Adding another entry into their archive of comprehensive deep dives into the life and legacy of rock music's most iconic artists, producers, and business trailblazers, the latest feature focuses on Rex Brown of Texas titans, Pantera.

Augmenting the existing catalog of episodes that has thus far featured the likes of Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, Kirk Hammett of Metallica, Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains, and Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, the latest episode with Rex Brown explores the rich legacy of Pantera - a band that revolutionized heavy music during their dominant decade from 1990 to 2000. Releasing five multi-platinum albums and giving rise to generations of fans influenced by their sound, Brown offers a first-hand account of the band's rise, their pedigree and their enduring impact on the culture.

“Here’s a story of gratitude and honor,” says Rex Brown. “To be able to tell my story in this beautiful ‘Icons’ forum is an honor as I’ve never thought of myself as one, and I am thrilled for everybody to experience more than just the music. It’s the bonds that tie…”

“’Icons’ with Rex Brown takes this series to A New Level,” explains Cesar Gueikian, Gibson Brand President. “I've gotten to know Rex very well over the years and it's been a privilege to witness the ideation and evolution of the new Pantera formation, and how much it means to Phil and Rex to pay tribute to Dime and Vinnie. Rex opens up in ways that I only saw during the long evenings we spent sharing our stories and playing guitar. It was important to Rex to tell us his story and the story of Pantera, and it’s emotionally powerful. I am proud of this episode and the work the Gibson TV team did to bring Rex’s story to fans around the world.”

The arrival of the ICONS feature with Rex Brown coincides with the historic live return of their current incarnation of Pantera. The band is confirmed to perform at Knotfest Colombia, Knotfest Chile and Knotfest Brazil to close out 2022. The band will be out in support of Metallica as well as their own headlining dates and festival appearances throughout 2023. A full list of dates can be found - HERE

Earlier this year, Gibson unveiled the latest addition to its collection bass guitars, the Rex Brown Signature Thunderbird Bass guitar. Given his lengthy, respected body of work, Brown’s signature bass has been long in the making. Finding a kindred, creative ally in Gibson, Brown's signature Thunderbird Bass was a labor of love more than two and a half years in the works with Gibson luthiers. The Thunderbird boasts a balance of classic and contemporary, with an Ebony finish complimented with gold accents - boasting a timeless look with modern performance.
