Though the announcement to concurrently release their entire slate of 2021 films theatrically and direct to streaming was initially met with serious contention, the excitement surrounding the unconventional means of releasing blockbuster movies is really starting to swell.
Fans eager to get some kind of big-budget, popcorn-packed cinematic experience again have plenty to look forward to in the coming months as the release calendar from Warner Bros. Pictures is brimming with quality films and really incentivizing people to start subscribing to HBO Max.
The studio and the streaming service released a comprehensive teaser trailer recently that is packed with footage from some of the most anticipated films of the year. Among the films featured in the trailer include glimpses of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Sopranos prequel in The Many Saints of Newark, Those Who Wish Me Dead starring Angelina Jolie, the fourth installment of The Matrix, and the Denis Villeneuve-directed Dune, and more.
Among the first films to debut in 2021 include the Denzel Washington, Jared Leto, and Rami Malek-led serial killer thriller, The Little Things. Also on deck is the Fred Hampton biopic, Judas and the Black Messiah, and fans will finally get to settle the bet of who among the biggest kaiju monsters would win in a battle, as Godzilla Vs. Kong sees the two titans square up onscreen.
Also featured in the teaser trailer is highly coveted footage of some most anticipated films in Mortal Kombat and Suicide Squad. The trailer reveals a first look at the iconic Sub-Zero in action, as well as a glimpse at John Cena in his role as Peacemaker in the upcoming superhero epic.
