Guillermo del Toro has always imbued his stories of fantasy with prominent elements of horror. The filmmaker holds an obvious love for the genre and all of its macabre flourishes and challenging themes. Now, he's ready to share his passion with audiences once again with a horror anthology series coming to Netflix later this year.
Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities will explore all things creepy, gruesome, gothic, grotesque, and more throughout its eight episodes - each one a brand new original tale. While del Toro will contribute two stories for the series, the rest will be covered by a group of exceptional writers and directors handpicked by the filmmaker himself.
Panos Cosmatos (Mandy), David Prior (The Empty Man), Vincenzo Natali (Splice), Jennifer Kent (The Babadook), Keith Thomas (The Vigil), Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight), and Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night) are all confirmed to take part in the anthology series with their own styles and ideas, ensuring each episode feels distinctively different.
The various actors making up the cast are also an impressive bunch. Essie Davis, Luke Roberts, Andrew Lincoln, F. Murray Abraham, Glynn Turman, Ben Barnes, Elpidia Carrillo, Hannah Galway, Crispin Glover, Rupert Grint, Demetrius Grosse, David Hewlett, Tim Blake Nelson, Sebastian Roché, Peter Weller, Eric André, Sofia Boutella, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Kate Micucci and Charlyne Yi are all set to star in the series.
Check out the first teaser for the upcoming show below, full of monsters, haunted houses, corpses and much more.
'Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities' premieres sometime in 2022 only on Netflix.
