Among heavy metal's most battle-tested stalwarts, Judas Priest thrilled a capacity crowd at Estadio Monumental in Santiago, Chile this weekend and further asserted their rank as cultural pillars.
Bolstering a historic line-up that included a reunion set from Pantera and a headlining set from extreme champions Slipknot, Judas Priest delivered high octane heft with a set that played out like a greatest hits collection.
From the opening of "Electric Eye" to set essentials like "You've Got Another Thing Comin'", "Turbo Lover", "Screaming for Vengeance" and "Painkiller" the Chilean metal faithful were exultant as Ron Halford proved commanding from beginning to end.
Building to the encore climax in arguably Priest's most celebrated singles, the trio of "Hell Bent for Leather", "Breaking the Law" and "Living After Midnight" translated into the kind of live experience that vaults a concert into a spiritual awakening.
Judas Priest remain the Gods of Heavy Metal and service in Santiago was sacrament. See the gallery of images captured by photographer Anthony Scanga below.
