Among the most discussed commercials that ran during Super Bowl LV, Marvel Studios debuted an energized look at the upcoming 6-episode Disney + series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
The Marvel Studios extension of the cinematic universe features Anthony Mackie playing Sam Wilson, better known as The Falcon. Set in a post Avengers: Endgame reality, Mackie's portrayal of Wilson sees The Falcon taking on the power and responsibility of carrying Captain America's shield in the wake of Steve Rogers' retirement.
Sebastian Stan reprises his role as Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier. Partnering with Wilson, the tandem superheroes set to take on an anarchrist group known in the series as the Flag-Smashers and eventually cross paths with Baron Zemo, played Daniel Brühl, who remains hellbent on ridding the world of superheroes.
Despite a contentious relationship between the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, former agent Sharon Carter (Emily Van Camp), the niece of Captain America's love interest at S.H.E.I.L.D., Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), manages to bring balance to the team of Wilson and Barnes in a way the gets the guys to remain focused on the bigger threat.
