Trivium's Matt Heafy was recently joined on an Instagram Live by Lamb of God's Randy Blythe and Megadeth's Dave Mustaine to discuss the Metal Tour of the Year, which ran in 2021 and picks up for leg 2 this April.

In celebration of the announcement of the second leg of the Metal Tour of the Year, a trio of the caravan's respected frontmen linked online for a chat via Instagram Live to discuss the forecast for the upcoming run.

Megadeth's Dave Mustaine, Lamb of God's Randy Blythe and Trivium's matt Heafy reminisced on some of their highlights from the hugely successful first leg of the tour and which stops served as the memorable shows. Randy Blythe spoke fondly of the stop in Texas - a show that was the first time Lamb of God had ever used pyro. Combined with the heat of the South, the intensity was next level for the outdoor stage.

When asked about how it felt to get back to playing for fans in a live environment after such a lengthy forced hiatus, Blythe said of the pause that "it felt like one of my functions in life had been removed" and that the first show of the tour felt like "one of my favourite parts of my life had been given back to me".

Matt Heafy added that the tour as a whole was 'the best of our lives' and spoke about how good it felt to be able to play and hang with bands and people he has a lot of respect and admiration for.

Blythe also detailed how he took his camera everywhere on the tour as he so often does, to regularly capture his perspective during his times away from the stage.

Other takeaways from conversation were Mustaine's recent ambassadorship with Gibson Guitars and his upcoming Flying V release (which can be previewed - HERE), Blythe's new book that is currently in the works, and Matt trying to steer Randy to join him as a Twitch streamer.

There was much talk of the excitement for the second leg of the tour which runs from Apr 9 - May 15 with Blythe stating that he often prefers shows in less frequented cities, as the fans can be much more appreciative since they usually get a lot less shows.
