Director Zack Snyder and Netflix have officially achieved peak anticipation for the highly-touted release of the zombie-heist flick, 'Army of the Dead' by sharing the first 15 minutes of the film.
The sneak preview is a gloriously gory, colossal spectacle of stylized violence that is everything we have missed about the movie going experience. Complete with a zombie Elvis, air strikes descending upon the strip and hordes of the undead charging through casinos and ravaging any human in sight, its hard to not be excited about the prospects of the film.
The film is set to premiere in a very select amount of theaters on May 14th and will officially premiere via Netflix on May 21st. Ahead of the film's debut however, Youtube is now hosting the first 15 minutes of the film for all of 32 hours before the clip is set to "self destruct".
The video description reads: "The first 15 minutes of Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead. Zombie Elvis? Check. Face melting action? Check. A special cameo? Check. Mind blown? You tell us."
The film depicts the story of a group of mercenaries enlisted to execute a casino heist in a zombie-decimated Las Vegas. The film was directed by Snyder, and co-written with Shay Hatten, and Joby Harold. Heading the cast is Dave Bautista along with an ensemble cast that includes Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana de le Reguera, Theo Rossi, Tig Notaro, Hiroyuki Sanada, Huma Qureshi, Nora Arnezeder, Matthias Schweighofer, Faul Castillo, and Garret Dillahunt.
To suggest how much Netflix is getting behind Snyder's zombie-filled vision, the streaming platform is already done with a prequel called Army of Thieves that focuses on Schweighofer's character. The feature stars Nathalie Emmanuel, Guz Khan, Rubo O. Fee, Stuart Martin, and Jonathan Cohen. The project wrapped back in December but no release date for the prequel has been set. Shay Hatten wrote the script with Zack Snyder contributing to the story. Matthias Schweighofer also directs.
