ViacomCBS has just held its Investor Day for 2022, rebranding itself to Paramount Global and announcing an impressive list of exclusive titles coming to their Paramount+ streaming service. The recent addition to the streaming battleground has officially begun to throw its weight around and bulk up its library. Big properties like Halo, Star Trek, and South Park are set for new content, and plenty of revivals are in the works as well.
Both the new Scream and the new Jackass movie have been announced as coming exclusively to Paramount+, with the plan being that all Paramount movies will be exclusive to the streaming service by 2024. There really is no avoiding streaming being the way of the here and now, and it seems the studio is finally embracing it and preparing well in advance.
Movies announced for Paramount+:
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts - The first entry in a new trilogy of Transformers movies inspired by the Beast Wars storyline. Directed by Steven Caple Jr. (Creed 2), the film will be set in 1994 and feature Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, as well as star Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, and Lauren Vélez.
Teen Wolf - The original cast of the hit television series will be reuniting for a full-length feature.
Babylon - Damien Chazelle's latest film, the filmmaker behind Whiplash, La La Land, and First Man. It will star Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie and come to the streaming service after its theatrical run.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - An upcoming CG-animated film from the director of The Mitchells vs The Machines is set for a theatrical release and be followed up by series of Paramount+ movies set in the same universe.
Sonic the Hedgehog - A third film to follow the upcoming theatrical sequel to the surprise hit of 2020.
SpongeBob SquarePants - Several new movies have been announced for the friendly yellow sponge.
SEAL Team - A feature-length movie from the drama series.
A Quiet Place - The third film in John Kransinki and Emily Blunt's tale of parenthood and apocalyptic monsters as well as any planned spin-offs will be coming exlusively to the streaming service
Star Trek - After much delay and uncertainty, a fourth film with the J.J. Abrams cast that includes Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, and others is officially happening.
The Lost City - The upcoming adventure comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum will be coming to the streaming service after its theatrical run along with any sequels
Mission: Impossible - The Tom Cruise-does-insane-stunts franchise's new home will be on the streaming service
Dungeons & Dragons - A 2023 film starring Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez is set for release as well as any planned sequels and spin-offs
Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe - In perhaps the dumbest space movie ever made, Beavis and Butt-Head are sentenced to Space Camp by a “creative” judge in 1998. Their obsession with a docking simulator (huh huh) leads to a trip on the Space Shuttle, with predictably disastrous results. After going through a black hole, they reemerge in our time, where they look for love, misuse iPhones, and are hunted by the Deep State. Spoiler: They don’t score.
Series announced for Paramount+:
Lioness - Based on a real-life CIA program, follows a Marine recruited to befriend the daughter of a terrorist to bring the organization down from within. Zoe Saldana is set to star.
