It will be "a "reimagined" take for a new generation with a new creative team being hired

Comedy Central continues its adult animated resurrection, building off the previous announcement of the return of 'Beavis & Butthead', today announcing they plan to revive 'The Ren & Stimpy Show'.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, who first broke the news, it will be "a "reimagined" take on the former Nickelodeon and Spike adult animated series. Details are scares but the ViacomCBS-owned cable network plans to hire a new creative team for the update, which will be reimagined for a new generation."

"We are excited to reinvent this iconic franchise with a new creative team and our partners at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio," McCarthy said. "Ren & Stimpy joins our rapidly expanding roster of adult animation including South Park, Beavis and Butt-Head and Clone High as we continue to reimagine our treasure chest of beloved IP for new generations."

'The Ren & Stimpy Show', ran for 52 episodes from 1991-1995 on Nickelodeon and then released two episodes on MTV in '96. A more mature revival was attempted on Spike TV back in 2003 entitled 'Ren & Stimpy "Adult Party Cartoon" but was dropped after three episodes.
