The latest trailer for the rock-doc 'Long Live Rock… Celebrate The Chaos' features the kind of comprehensive examination of the subculture of heavy music that is sorely needed after nearly a full year of no live music.
The Jonathan McHugh-helmed project was produced by music industry veterans Gary Spivack and Jonathan Platt and chronicles the nuanced, often stigmatized culture at the core of heavy music. Featuring members of Metallica, Guns N ’Roses, Slipknot, Korn, Avenged Sevenfold, Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Rage Against the Machine, Greta Van Fleet, Halestorm, and a myriad more, the interviews with the artists highlights the unique, symbiotic relationship between the fans and the bands.
In addition to the fan dynamic, the film explores the nefarious side of life onstage including the pitfalls of substance abuse and the prevalence of depression that often goes undiscussed.
Lastly, the film will dig into the detailed elements of the world of heavy music that are often misunderstood. Examining the mosh pit, the 'Wall of Death', and the nomadic diehards that opt to travel in support of the bands they love, Long Live Rock… Celebrate The Chaos' is the kind of cinematic portrayal that does exactly that.
In his director's statement, Jonathan McHugh explained the inspiration for his directorial debut and offered a message of optimism with the hope that the film reminds the audience of what the thrill of a live show can be.
Growing up in Staten Island, NY I would do anything to see legends like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath & KISS, perform at Madison Square Garden, or Nassau Coliseum. I was lucky to fall into the music business doing radio promotion at Elektra Records in the early 90’s, where I worked with Gary Spivack. We were blessed to promote legendary bands like Motley Crue & Metallica. And here we are 25 years later, amplifying and championing this music, now in documentary form. Long Live Rock is a celebration of the chaos that makes this music and its fans, the most passionate in the world. I hope you enjoy watching this film, as much as I enjoyed making it. With all the music festivals and concerts shut down across the world, we hope this film can help tide you over, and we can get back out there and rock the f**k out again.
