Premium account holders can get their hands on one for free for a limited time.

In an effort to steer people away from using their phones for media streaming, Spotify has unveiled their own streaming device designed specifically for the car and it's hilariously called, "Car Thing".

"Car Thing" functions with a paid Spotify premium membership and a smartphone with WiFi or mobile data capabilities. Utilizing voice recognition much like Siri for Apple, users can wake the device with a “Hey Spotify” command to begin using the device. The design of the device also features a dial so users can play, select and toggle through there Spotify profile.

“Our focus remains on becoming the world’s number one audio platform—not on creating hardware—but we developed Car Thing because we saw a need from our users, many of whom were missing out on a seamless and personalized in-car listening experience,” the company explained via their newsroom. “No matter the year or model of your vehicle, we feel everyone should have a superior listening experience.”

"Car Thing" is currently being offered to select U.S. customers only. The limited product launch is on an invite-only basis and is being offered at no cost aside from shipping and a means of testing the market. Once the device does officially hit the market, it is expected to retail for $79.99
