Disney and Lucasfilms has now made that reveal official with the announcement of The Book of Boba Fett. The series will be produced by Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau and director Robert Rodriguez and Dave Filoni.

The series will star Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen and will happen separately from the third season of The Mandalorian. Production is scheduled to begin early 2021 with the aim of a December 2021 release. During an appearance on Good Morning America to formally introduce the project, exec producer Jon Favreau confirmed that his team would be working on the third season of The Mandalorian after production of The Book of Baba Fett wraps.

The news of the series follows additional confirmed projects like Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic as well as series focused on enduring saga characters like Cassian Andor, Lando Carlissian, and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
