Amazon Prime Video has truly thrown its hat into the superhero ring in an interesting fashion. It's hit shows The Boys and Invincible have both been bloody and unflinchingly bleak takes on certain aspects of superhero business, while still telling compelling stories within the genre. Both have a solid sense of humor to boot.
The Boys, from producers Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about "The Seven", and their formidable Vought backing.
The first two seasons have been met with critical acclaim and rabid fans, making the announcement of a third season as well as a couple of spin-off series not all that surprising. Amazon released a first look back in January.
Coming fresh off the release of The Boys' first spin-off, the star-studded animated variety show The Boys Presents: Diabolical, Amazon has now released the official trailer for Season 3, and it's a lot to take in, most notably the case of glowing eyeballs on Karl Urban's Billy Butcher. A redband trailer has been released as well.
Season 3 of 'The Boys' arrives June 3rd exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
