Just weeks away from the April 23rd release of Simon McQuiod's big screen adaptation of Mortal Kombat, a new featurette entitled, 'Meet The Kast' is giving fans a detailed look at the film, the creators, and the players tapped to play the iconic characters.
The 3-minute clip published by IGN combines new footage from the film along with interviews from the likes of director Simon McQuiod, writer Greg Russo, and the full cast including Lewis Tan (Cole Young), Chin Han (Shang Tsung), Joe Taslim (Sub-Zero), Mehcad Brooks (Jax), Sisi Stringer (Mileena), Max Huang (Kung Lao), Josh Lawson (Kano), Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade), Hiroyuki Sanada (Scorpion), and Ludi Lin (Liu Kang).
Detailing the expansive narrative that exists at the root of the spectacle of violence and gore, the cast and crew emphasize that while the film makes a very sincere effort to showcase the authenticity of the game, the film has the substance to stand on it's own as a unique experience that only adds to the legacy of the franchise.
The revealed footage from the film in the featurette really doubles down on the fact that this is one of the most anticipated filks of 2021 for good reason. Along with the R-rating and the promise of all of the blood, combat, and fatalities that made the brand what it is, McQuiod has ensured fans that this is a reverent treatment of the source material from beginning to end.
Mortal Kombat arrives in theaters on on HBO Max April 23rd. Watch the featurette below.
