The streaming giant has ordered 10-one hour episodes and production is set to begin in Toronto starting February 2021.

Netflix is getting behind the superhero misfit series based on the Dark Horse comic book written by My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way, in a big way, by renewing a third season of The Umbrella Academy.

The announcement was revealed by Netflix with the news that production will begin in February of 2021 and will be shooting in Toronto. The move is a no-brainer given the popularity of the series. According to Variety, Nielsen streaming numbers listed the series as, "the most-watched show on all of streaming in its first week."

Cast members that were integral for season 2 that will be making the return for season 3 include Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore.

The second season storyline saw the Hargreeves immersed in the 1950's nuclear race era. In addition to trying to save the world from impending doom, the family of misfit-superheroes had to evade a group of assassins that were aiming to end them. With each of the seasons segueing into one another, the story will likely delve further into the introduction of The Sparrow Academy that rounded out the second season.
