Art collective Punk Rock & Paintbrushes has launched a new exhibition at the Eye for Sound Gallery of Los Angeles - the gallery opened in tandem with Kavat Coffee from System of A Down frontman/activist, Serj Tankian.
In the spirit of social activism and embracing the oppositional power of art and creativity, the exhibition, The United Staes of Art, intends to combat injustice and growing climate of division with a collection of works that emphasizes unity, inclusion and community through art. Featuring an extensive list of contributors from various mixed media, The United States of Art features works from the likes of Warren Fitzgerald of The Vandals, Sugarcult co-founder Marko DeSantis, Jurassic 5's Charli2na, Fishbone's Angelo Moore and of course, Serj Tankian himself among many others.
For the opening night festivities, the Eagle Rock destination that has since become a haven for art, culture, community and coffee, (courtesy fo Kavat), welcomed several distinguished guests to the gallery floor at Eye for Sound. With greats like Josh Freese and Robert Trujillo in the building, the exhibit boasted some serious starpower with everyone convening to celebrate artistic individuality and the powers of creative expression.
Among the show's consistent themes, The United States of Art assembles various works that each emphasize how respect and unity can be weaponized to combat injustice - all through the power of art. The exhibit runs through June 7th at Eye for Sound Gallery. Find more info on The United States of Art - HERE
