The Walking Dead unveils the official trailer for the extended 10th season

The additional six episodes tacked onto the end of the shows 10th season will begin February 28th and set the stage for the show's 11th and final season which is set to begin later this year.

AMC's The Walking Dead has a definite ending in sight for fans. The finale of the saga that will culminate with a 24-episode, two-year spanning 11th season, but before that, the show's 6-episode extension will resume the story start February 28th.

As for the where the plot picks back up when the 6-episode stretch begins, the official description shares, “We find our survivors trying to pick themselves up by their bootstraps following the destruction the Whisperers left in their wake. The years of struggle weigh upon them as past traumas surface, exposing their more vulnerable sides. As they question the state of humanity, the state of their collective community, and the states of their minds, will they find the inner strength to persevere with their lives, friendships, and group intact?”

Among the new additions to this portion of the series include Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) as “Mays” and Hilarie Burton Morgan as Negan’s wife “Lucille,” and Okea Eme-Akwari (Cobra Kai) as “Elijah”.

As for the anticipated time line of the various Walking Dead offshoots and how they will play out in 2021, the extended portion of the 10th season of Te Walking Dead will lead into the 6th season of Fear the Walking Dead, with The World Beyond also making it's return this year. The 11th and final season of The Walking Dead is expected to begin late 2021 and will carry on through the end of 2022 - completing one of the most accomplished television runs in history.
