A beloved children's classic is getting a ridiculous horror makeover. Only this time, it's official. When you think of Winnie the Pooh, created by author A.A. Milne and illustrator E.H. Shephard, the first thing that comes to mind is probably gonna be the Disney version. The company has kept a hold on the lovable yellow bear and his pals for decades, but the rights entered public domain at the start of this year, so now the Hundred Acre Wood is up-for-grabs.
Director, writer and producer Rhys Waterfield is the first to come out of the gates swinging at low-hanging fruit, but hey, someone's gotta do it. In only a few months time, he's put together a horror movie based on the children series. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey sees Pooh and Piglet out for blood in creepy slasher mode. Let's go ahead and apologize for any kids who end up watching this thing online before they should.
In an interview with Variety, Waterfield explained that “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” will see Pooh and Piglet as “the main villains…going on a rampage” after being abandoned by a college-bound Christopher Robin. “Christopher Robin is pulled away from them, and he’s not
“Because they’ve had to fend for themselves so much, they’ve essentially become feral,” Waterfield continued. “So they’ve gone back to their animal roots. They’re no longer tame: they’re like a vicious bear and pig who want to go around and try and find prey.”
