The eight-episode series will center on Wednesday Addams in what is being described as a "spooky coming-of-age” story.

Streaming giant Netflix has announced a new partnership with cinematic visionary Tim Burton that will see the filmmaker transition to the small screen.

Announcing the production of 'Wednesday,' the eight-episode series will center on the iconic character of Wednesday Addams of The Addams Family. Among the contributors involved in the behind-the-scenes efforts to make the show a reality are Smallville's Alfred Gough and Miles Millar serving as the series' writer and show runner.

As for the direction of the series, 'Wednesday' is being described as a "spooky coming of age" that depicts “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.”

The show's synopsis continues, "Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.”

The live-action translation of the television fixture does not have a release date just yet but the first official poster has been revealed to stir some excitement.
