Volbeat introduce third version of the band's signature rum

Michael Poulsen and Volbeat's palette continue to evolve with both music and spirits.

Volbeat has announced the third installment of rum to successful portfolio of spirits.

Volbeat Rum III is a 15-year aged dark rum with ingredients sourced from The Dominican Republic, Guyana, Jamaica, Barbados, Guatemala, and Trinidad. Bottled in the Netherlands for Conquer Spirits/AMKA, Volbeat Rum III packs a whallop with 43% alcohol by volume while delivering flavor notes of exotic dried fruits, caramel, and wood.

The most recent addition to the portfolio comes after the band's first venture into the world of spirits in 2016 with Volbeat Rum I. The following year, the band launched the second, slightly sweeter installment with Volbeat Rum II in 2017. Both have since sold out completely. After some time away, Volbeat has used their time away from touring to focus again on their passion for a quality beverage.

"If you learn how to mix it right, and do it right, it is something you can drink easily," Volbeat vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen explains. "When you are a youngster, you can’t afford to buy good liquor," he states. "You start with crappy beers and just want to get buzzed. As you get older, you discover better beers. We had our own beer for a short while and went through a process to find the right taste. Later on, I got into whiskey. You start with a standard whiskey and think it's the best thing in the world until you discover the higher quality stuff."

Drawing parallels between the craft of music and spirits, the evolving palette is ultimately what determines the course. With the success of Volbeat Rum I and II, the third installment needed to have a broader reach without compromising quality.

Described as a 'uni-rum,' Volbeat Rum III functions in satisfying aficionados and the casual drinker with the same outstanding experience.
