The impromptu jam took place aboard this weekend's Shiprocked Cruise and featured guitarist Christian Martucci.

There were plenty of important moments that took place aboard this year's Shiprocked destination event that featured performances from the likes of Lamb of God, Avatar, Sevendust, P.O.D., Butcher Babies and many more.

The five day getaway set out from Galveston, Texas on Jan. 22 due south towards Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico. Among the highlights of the five day run included an especially memorable jam with two of the vacation's biggest draws joining forces.

Corey Taylor and Stone Sour guitarist Christian Martucci crashed Steel Panther's set for a powehouse rendition of a metal classic, performing Dio's anthemic "Rainbow in the Dark" for the ship's passionate metal heads.

Steel Panther axeman Satchel explained that the band had never performed the song before and quipped the crowd of Taylor's participation. "I'll tell you what, dude — I'm so excited because I've been looking for a new lead singer for this band for a long fucking time. And I know that Corey Taylor sings in all kinds of bands, he's a musical whore."

The resulting performance however was undoubtedly one of the vacation's highlights - with Taylor belting out the timeless track and the band executing the song to perfection - paying tribute to one of the very best to ever do it.

Watch the fan-captured clip of the performance below.
