Among the UK’s most enduring metalcore mainstays, Asking Alexandria have climbed to the heights of heavy rock and then some. Now well into their second decade of tenure, the band has submitted some eight full length studio albums, en route to becoming one of the most consistent and prolific contributors in the space of modern metalcore.

Enlisting Matt Good (Hollywood Undead, From First To Last) to helm the production of their latest effort, the tandem of frontman Danny Worsnop and guitarist/songwriter Ben Bruce, have compiled an 11-song presentation that takes an honest look at heady themes of loss, despair and the general apprehension that comes with real life. Combined with the band’s creative longevity, the result is masterclass of modern hard rock composition – one that takes the listener on a ride complete with emotional peaks and valleys.

Adding yet another compelling entry among already proven body of work, Asking Alexandria assert the kind of competence it takes to evolve as artists, while remaining true to their core. Asserting the definitive style that has made them so beloved among fans, while still evolving their craftsmanship, the album Where Do We Go From Here certainly bares personal significance, but also speaks to the trajectory of a band that has seen the heights and continues to climb.

Offering some added insight to the headspace of the band in making WDWGFH, frontman Danny Worsnop shared a track-by-track explanation that ties the entire presentation together. Armed with a potent new album and due to kick off their Psycho Thunder co-headlining trek with labelmates The Hu, Asking Alexandria have once again hit their stride, bringing fans along for the ride.

Check the breakdown from Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria below.

“BAD BLOOD”

Worsnop – “Bad Blood” is the first song from the album, we wanted to hit hard right from the rip and open up high energy.

“DARK VOID”

Worsnop – “Dark Void” is first song we released off the album and one that highlights very clearly our goal to bring together all the different areas of our fanbase that we have from the last 15 years.

“FEEL”

Worsnop – “Feel” is a really big mid-tempo headbanger with a huge heavy beefy guitar and drum section in the bridge, I think people are really gonna dig this one.

“HOLDING ON TO SOMETHING MORE”

Worsnop – “Holding On To Something More” has a punk-esque vibe to it–definitely more of the modern take than the New York/London punk days of old. I don’t want people to get mad at me for that one!

“KILL IT WITH FIRE”

Worsnop – “Kill It With Fire” is a song is one whose name I had never heard until recently. I didn’t know that it was on the album, I didn’t even know it existed! It is one Ben (Bruce/Guitars) put together by himself and put in there as a little piece of himself, so we’re very appreciative for it.

“LET GO”

Worsnop – Every album needs that one song that aims towards the radio market, to the charts and to make its mark there. “Let Go” is that song from this album.

“LET THE DEAD TAKE ME”

Worsnop “Let The Dead Take Me” has that big anthemic, chant-y, sea of people jumping around with a bunch of fire going off vibe to it. Another super fun one.

“NOTHING LEFT”

Worsnop – “Nothing Left” became one of the fan favorites before anyone even heard it from a clip that was at the end of ‘Dark Void’ when that came out… so hopefully its life completes that metamorphosis into being, indeed, a fan favorite.

“PSYCHO”

Worsnop – “Psycho” is a big bombastic fun jump-around, tongue-in-cheek little bit of humor rock song that every album wouldn’t be complete without.

“THINGS COULD BE DIFFERENT”

Worsnop – “Things Could Be Different” is the first song I actually wrote for the album and was one of two songs that came from a really personal place, so it has a really deep meaning to me.

“WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE”

Worsnop – Initially I wanted this thing to just be big high energy from start to finish and just give people that very intense experience, but after we finished, everyone called me separately and felt the album was missing the ‘Danny’ song. The moment where I step in and do my thing.

My friend Cory and I were writing ‘Where Do We Go From Here?’ for my next record at the time and decided to pivot it into this record. I’m glad I did because it’s something so beautiful and so meaningful. It’s a question that has weighed on me for a long time in life and a lot of stuff we had going on in the band too.
