Transcendent alt mystics Zetra have have proven captivating thus far with a glimpse into their dreary, dreamy universe of ethereal extremity. Delivering the first single from the band's forthcoming, self-titled full length debut, The Wanderers teamed with Serena Cherry of Svalbard last month to introduce the breathtaking single, "Starfall".
Earning accolades that align the band with exceptional artists ranging from Sonic Youth and Slowdive to Deafheaven and Alcest, "Starfall" ushers in the band's first outing via Nuclear Blast Records and follows their series of celebrated EPs including 2021's From Within and 2022's From Without and Sacred Songs - both of which vaulted duo to a new plateau of awareness.
A masterful meld of goth aesthetic, ethereal synth, eerie atmospherics and layered instrumentation, Zetra have gone from stylistic outliers with their 2020 debut, to alt torchbearers in the present day. Ahead of the tandem's September 13th self-titled project, Zetra have debuted their third selection from the release with arguably one of their most emotive offerings to date in "The Mirror".
Melding the melody and warm of the late 80's era of New Romantic-style synth pop, with the menacing, frosty aesthetic of Norwegian black metal, "The Mirror" is an enthralling entry that challenges the confines of extreme music and outsider art.
The track arrives as Zetra have recently wrapped a productive European tour supporting VV (Ville Valo) and making converts across the region. While The duof known as The Wanderers are set to resume their run on the road later this year supporting LA-art noise punks HEALTH, Zetra have compiled a unique look at their latest live trek.
Assembling written entries latent with the band's cryptic language and stylized mystique, The Wanderers have pieced together words and images that offer a unique, first-hand account of the preparation and presentation pouring into their live ritual.
