Championed as a leading underground force in dark electronica with streetwise sashay, Leafar Seyer has reemerged at the helm of Cholo Goth forerunners, PRAYERS, with his latest offering, "No Tengo Calma".
Ushering in the project's newest era, the track introduces the pending EP, ORACIONES, a release the frontman and sound architect refers to as "a love letter from Mexico to the world".
Comprised of four new entries all in Spanish, the release ropes in elements of brooding synth, shadowy post-punk and traditional Latin rhythms as a complete showcase of Seyer's musical and cultural bedrock.
On "No Tengo Calma," vocal braggadocio is paired with downtempo Cumbia rhythms and finished with post punk flair. A compelling first outing, the single reiterates the stylistic mesh that first propelled the subset of Cholo Goth into the discussion when PRAYERS first broke more than a decade ago.
Seyer shared of the newest single. “This new music is deeply personal to me. ‘No Tengo Calma’ is about that fire inside you when love, pain and survival all collide. I’m excited for people to hear where PRAYERS is going with this song and the new music, and even more excited to bring it to life on tour. Along with the premiere of the music video for "No Tengo Calma," the track also titles the upcoming run of live dates set for this fall. Along with support from Devora, Ex Lover, Hallows and Chriz Amaya, Seyer and PRAYERS will set out on a on lengthy U.S. headlining tour that will also include a performance at Dark Waves Festival alongside Morrissey and Smashing Pumpkins this November.
