For three long years, the identity of Slipknot's Tortilla Man has been kept under wraps. While speculation and online chatter provided some insight via detailed fan theories as to who was behind the mask, the true identity of the affectionately dubbed, "New Guy" was never been confirmed by the band - until now.
In yet another show of spur of the moment spontaneity, Slipknot has finally revealed the musician and members of the nine since 2019 to be longtime friend Shawn Crahan collaborator, Michael Pfaff. The musician's connection to the Iowa collective dates back to his tenure as the keyboardist in clown's Dirty Little Rabbits project. Pfaff would eventually be brought into the Slipknot camp through his working, creative ties with Crahan and the band's DJ, Sid Wilson.
Pfaff has played an integral role in the nine since his arrival in 2019. New Guy would first appear in the music video for "Unsainted" during the rollout for We Are Not Your Kind and since has been an engaging, enigmatic figure in the crew - with fans continuously piecing together clues to try and solve the mystery of just who the latest recruit was.
Set to begin the first leg of the 2022 Knotfest Roadshow tonight (March 16th) in Fargo, ND., the band have not only shared the identity of their most recent addition to the band, but Pfaff will be fielding questions from the maggots for an AMA hosted on exclusively KNOTFEST.com at 12pm PT / 2pm CT.
