Speaking to the resilience of not only Welcome to Rockville organizers but the dedicated fans just the same, the festival saw major weather delays and eventual halt to the run of show due to several thunderstorms.
When they could turn on the sound boards and fire up the stages, Rockville saw a scaled down schedule of performances that saw noteworthy sets from the likes of In Flames, Jerry Cantrell, Agnostic Front, St. Asonia, Shinedown, Nothing More, Afterlife and more.
Addressing the weather and the ultimate force of hand to pull the plug, organizers shared on social media - “Unfortunately, there is another storm headed our way so we regretfully will be canceling the rest of the show tonight. We are as heartbroken as you are that today’s inclement weather has disrupted our plans, but ultimately the safety of our fans, artists, staff and vendors are of the upmost importance.”
Saturday's headliners in Guns N Roses also addressed the unfortunate circumstances online, “Tonight’s cancelation at Welcome to Rockville was a massive disappointment,” Slash shared via Twitter. “We were really looking forward to the show. But the weather had other ideas. We sympathize with all you guys who got rained out along with us, it fucking sucks. Another time, sooner than later!”
Though the weather might have hinder the full scale of the intended production, the bands that were in fact able to hit the stage put on a helluva show, rewarding the fans that were able to stick it out.
